I'm Kai Chen, an AI systems and backend architecture consultant. I bring an engineering leader's perspective and a hands-on approach to the systems teams need to build and operate.
Experience
20+ years in
software engineering.
My work has spanned large-scale e-commerce, financial technology platforms, investment banking, and real-time distributed systems. Along the way, I have led engineering teams and partnered across product, data, and technology functions.
That breadth informs how I approach consulting: understand the domain and constraints first, make architectural trade-offs explicit, then work with the team to validate the decisions in implementation.
Today my independent work focuses on AI agent reliability, enterprise retrieval, Java/Spring services, and external API integration.
